Membership Benefits
1. Benefits accruable to members under this provision shall apply to all active members of the association in good standing as defined by the association’s constitution and bylaws.
2. A member is considered in good standing if he/she:
- Attended at least four (4) out of six (6) monthly meetings in the past six
(6) months - Is up to date in the payment of the association’s monthly dues, and
- In addition to 2 (a) and (b) above, has a history of participation in at
least half of the association’s events and projects in the immediate past
twelve (12) months.
3. Death of a member in good standing
- The family of a deceased member shall receive one thousand five hundred dollars (US$1500) from Opoji D’Light North America’s Benefit Fund.
- The beneficiary of the benefit in 3(a) above shall be the spouse of the deceased member.
- If the deceased member was not survived by a spouse, the welfare officer will consult with the family and determine the family’s representative for this benefit.
4. Death of a Child under the age of 21
A member in good standing shall receive seven hundred and fifty dollars (US$750) on the death of a child under the age of twenty-one (21) years.
5. Death of biological Parent of a member in good standing
Each member in good standing shall receive one thousand dollars (US$1000).
6. Marriage of member in good standing or such member’s son or daughter:
A member in good standing shall receive two hundred and fifty dollars (US$250) in support of his or her biological or legally adopted child’s wedding. A formal invitation is required.
Funding of the Benefit Package
• Welfare Fund: $60 Annually ($5 monthly)
• Voluntary donations by members
